Overnet Data is pleased to be the sponsor for the Virtual Learning Platforms forum and by means of an introduction, here is a short synopsis of what we do.

Our software suite gives teachers, students and parents within a school real-time access to data from their school’s MIS – accessible online, via an app or within Moodle. Student performance and pastoral data can now be in your hands 24/7. We integrate with SIMS, Facility CMIS and iSAMs.

With Write Back teachers can update the MIS with mobile electronic registration, as well as recording grades, achievement and behaviour for complete assessment and anytime, anywhere reporting. Parental reporting and communication tools encourage parental engagement and participation, helping to build a strong whole-school partnership.

For Moodle we offer a full range of services including support, tailored consultancy and training packages as well as customised theme design and hosting. We specialise in on-site managed deployments where we deploy and manage your Moodle on your premises.

To discover more, visit www.overnetdata.com or drop me a PM.

We look forward to contributing to this forum and the edugeek community.

As above, worth a shout; Overnet manage our on-site moodle installation for us, migrated us from 2.4 to 2.7 and designed a new theme. Very happy with the service so far, the guys at Overnet know what they're doing and the cost of doing so with all the MIS integration, parental reporting etc was considerably less than alternatives such as SLG.

My question: How would you compare your product with SIMS other than the price point? What makes your product more preferable?

Hi Jehanzeb,

With our EduLink solution, we are able to provided an added layer of value to SIMS, from a teacher, student and parent perspective. For example:

· Our mobile app is more established with greater functionality and includes Write Back to SIMS (e.g. updating mark sheets and electronic registration)

· EduLink will work on smartphones, tablets and desktops for all users (incl. parents)

· We have the communicator module making it easy to communicate will relevant staff, students and parents via email and SMS (using contact information from SIMS)

· We have an accompanying VLE which can integrate with SIMS

Ultimately we bring all these systems under one roof - improviding efficiency in system management and effectiveness in teaching and learning.

I hope these answer your questions. Please do drop me a PM if you have any further queries.
