Strange Word formatting issue

Our Asst Dep Head has been complaining for a week or so that when he is typing, portions of text will randomly change position. Now the Dep Head has said the same has happened to her. When I suggested it was the huge brain waves they generated, the ADH said the same thing happens on his laptop at home.

 

The computers are Toshiba Satellite A200s and I'm wondering if the users might be hitting the CTRL key as they type and activating a shortcut.

 

Has anyone else seen anything similar?

That could be it. It doesn't exactly answer the problem as described but I think that might be down to the description.

We had similar with Dell laptops. The touchpad was really sensitive (not in a moody way...), they just had to lightly brush it with their wrists and it would do funny things.

 

Installing the Dell Touchpad application allowed us to chage the sensitivity and it's worked fine since then.

What version of Office were they using? We had this on 2003 here, stuck 2010 on and theres been no word of it since!

Anything reported to me this week that I cant understand I put down to sunspots.

While explaining I make sure im convinced and full of understanding and say it will usually pass over in a couple of months.

The school janitor has so many teachers convinced the heating system has a damaged 'fu fu valve', they fall for it every time.

I've seen this happen also with staff touching the touchpad with the palm of their hand. Most newer notebooks have the option to switch it off either with a physical switch or pressing FN+F6 for example.

 

Most users prefer using a USB mouse anyway.

I've disabled the touchpads to see if that cures it.

You say that, we have correlated rubbish-wifi-on-the-kitchen-PC with solar flares here...
