cygnes Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 This is a very annoying ( for me and other members of staff) issue we have, when we send either a single email or from a Distribution List the Primary Schools ( who are using RM EasyMail Plus ) most if not all will instead of getting our email with an attachment, will only get a .Dat file, now we have already goggled this and have made sure we are not using RTF format, we have also tried sending in Text format, and HTML, which are supported by RM Easymail Plus. however they still get the .Dat file instead of our email. this is very very frustrating. and i'm lost for things to try. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Many Thanks Paul S
achedgy Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Had this for years, if they use Outlook it's fine. For everyone else, I just sugarsync and put a link to the file I want to send to them. Will be very happy once I've got them all moved to Office365 and said goodbye to easymail
cygnes Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 i've had a look at SugarSync, however i know they won't pay for someone like that, so i'm looking at Dropbox instead. should be fairly simple for them to use. (hopefully) Good luck moving them all to Office365 Thanks for your reply.
cygnes Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Does anyone else have any further suggestions ? Thanks
Steve21 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Are you using Exchange on your end? There's an option in there which adds RTF data to an email based on the exchange server settings. Or are you just using outlook linked to easymail? Steve
cygnes Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Hello Steve21, We are using Outlook 2010, using Exchange 2007. we are sending emails with attachments to Primary Schools who are all using RM EasyMail +. I must admit, i've only had a quick glance at exchange but did not see that option ? can you help locate ? Many Thanks Paul S
Steve21 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 How to Prevent the Winmail.dat File from Being Sent to Internet Users Might explain it a bit better, not sure if it's definately going to be that for yourselves, but all the schools we support use EasyMail and never had an attachment arrive as .DAT Might be worth a try when you get a minute. Steve
sukh Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Is RM Easymail and Exch server but with an RM stamp?
cygnes Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Sorry Sukh, I'm not sure i understand your question, Please can you clarify ? Thanks Is RM Easymail and Exch server but with an RM stamp?
achedgy Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 This is the common answer for this issue, never seen it work though. Would love to be able to get to the bottom of it. SWGfL were as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Got one school over to Office365, impressed, 1 in progress, 10 to go! Oh a free sugarsync account will do the job, 5gb is ample for this sort of thing normally
achedgy Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 And the receiving primary school doesn't have to sign up, they just click the link in the email, takes them to a webpage where they download the file. Works well enough
sukh Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Sorry Sukh, I'm not sure i understand your question, Please can you clarify ? Thanks what im saying is are you using a exch server or a 3rd party mail server?
DannyP Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 RM Easymail is just a badged version of squirrelmail. We used to have it, and had these issues however you can use outlook with it set up as IMAP. Whenever the office got these sort of issues they would forward the mail onto me in outlook then i would forward it back and it would cure it in their webmail
