Wait...am i on to something here? (Kyocera Printers)

I've noticed that the last lot of toners we were given via our printer lease company were recycled. Fair enough I thought.

Recently i've been getting a lot of staff moaning the colours are off, like the toners are on their way out, which they are. 6% to be exact.....funny thing is they've been like that for a while now.

If they've been messing with things like the chips on the toners....could it cause an issue like this?

I'm going to say yes. We have similar issues here with refills.

I agree refills are always going to be inferior. The chip on some toners is literally an expiry date, so even if it's brand new the printer could refuse it.

If the lease company are Kyocera approved, you have to ask why on earth they're using refills in the first place!

Would love to know what they reply or how they can justify using refills. Maybe worth mentioning it to your Business Manager who should be dealing with these issues also.

First reply: They want to send engineer out....*rolls eyes*

Just go with it and see what happens. They're supposed to be the printer experts afterall.

we had recycled to reduce our printing costs, the HP Printers hated them, the basic brother mono toners just leaked and as for recycled drum units, they too are a waste of space.

Mind you, we send all our old HP toners back to HP, so they must reset the chips. They give us nothing back though.

We have started to use recycled here on our non-managed printers now, where we have exhausted the stock the previous tech had in place before I started (huge amount of toners in stock for lots of printers - some of which we dont even have any more) wouldnt fancy them on colour printers though, ours are all monotone that get recycled toners installed, no issues or complaints so far.

Whoa!! I wouldn't black list them! Their support is great and if we do need an engineer we get one next day but often sameday. Plus after speaking to my account manager he has assured me that we will only be getting originals from now on!

Not the point.

The support may be excellent, but I'd rather not have to constantly watch out for a company trying to screw us over by charging for legit toners but sending refils/compatibles.
