Selling Equipment On

We are in the process of decommissioning a number of our data centers and we have kit that is still useable but is of no use to us anymore and we want to try and get some cash for the stuff as we are now allowed to do that.

 

Are there any sites like Mazuma for mobile that do the same for computer equipment?

Not sure, its all quite new to us this selling stuff on lark, just want something simple and easy to do.

Produce a vat invoice for the equipment and the buyer pays that problem solved.

Don't think that there is any restriction on this, our LA advised us not to do it for a number of reasons, but they can't actually stop you.

We are not a school. We used to do it years ago but didn't have the time in the end to sort it all out.

 

Biggest problem I am lead to believe is you are still responsible if something gets an electric shock for example.

 

Looks like we are just going to dispose of it this time but there could be more in the future.

Not worth the hassle then! There are a few recycling companies offering a few quid to collect your old equipment, I think there are a few conditions though.

Never been a problem as long as you sell it with a VAT invoice and pay the VAT generated back to HMRC.

Our policy is not to sell on any equipment, once it's reached the end of use here it gets recycled.

We just recycle ours at the moment. After four years in a IT Suite covered in snot and God knows what else, I doubt anyone would want to buy the kit anyway!!!

We produce an Invoice and its 'sold as seen' and they sign a sheet saying that our school is not responsible for maintenance or repair.

 

As we usually just sell on old laptops this works well for us and we generate a bit of cash to go back into 'IT' in the school.

We have had confirmation from the director today that we are to dispose of this in the same way we do our desktops as a number of issues have come of it and it makes it easier for us. It is a shame we can't make a few quid back but it's easier.
