Website - which software

The last time I used anything to create a website it was back in the day of Frontpage which I know is old and out of date.

 

Problem is that I need to design a basic website, about, contact and small gallery which I can do but not sure of what software to use now. I am not a coder of any kind but can do the odd bit, so what do you recommend?

 

I am looking to do a few small websites for a few small companies I do a bit of IT support for after they where shafted and are no longer left with a site.

I like Joomla and thats a content management system that you have to set up on there hosting provider.

Could try Wix now using HTML 5 easy to configure and maintain.

plus one for Wordpress, Im not a web developer and my school needs a new site so thats what im in the process of doing atm with wordpress

+1 for Wix. My company website is built and hosted in Wix and never have an issue. Very easy to build too, easy drag and drop interface.

Google Sites. Its free, already installed and used by small companies. I have it set up at 5 Primary schools. It also links in with picasa to automatically create slideshows. Can display any shared Google app such as a calender or document. Best of all it is very easy to use.

Also should have mentioned Google has apps and gadgets that can be added to your site and you can create quizzes or questionnaires with only a few clicks that will automatically build graphs & charts from the answers.
