LeMarchand Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 It's just a shame it's so ugly. I think it looks OK. Price is pretty good; I'm quite tempted - though I can't see mention of GPS . Anyone know if there's a good OTFE program for Linux? (Or Comic Reader, eBook Reader, calendar that syncs with Outlook...) Of course, if someone would do something similar for Windows - even better (for me). The mentions of Windows 10 phones I've seen seem to suggest that it won't be the full OS.
simonhayes Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 It's the lack of apps that would put me off getting one, but I hope Canonical persist with this as I think it definitely looks like a decent and well thought out OS. It just needs some more support from some of the bigger manufacturers.
Gardinho Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I think I'll get one (if I can), even it's just in the interim until a better handset comes out. It's cheap as far new phones go.
jinnantonnixx Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 It looks like a really good phone OS. I'm a big fan of Ubuntu anyway, so that is probably tinting my view, but this article is suggesting that it's a mistake releasing the OS on a comparatively feeble platform. Perhaps it's worth waiting for beefier hardware. Ubuntu Phone: Revolutionary UI with underwhelming hardware specs - TechRepublic But for now, I'm firmly ensnared by the Google mothership, my Android phone and Goolge apps run my world, for better or for worse.
Gardinho Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 The one thing I'm struggling to find out is the integration with calendars, contacts and emails for Exchange server. I can't find out how you'd do it. This is really important to me in how I use my phone.

I think this is probably sound advice, for now. I'm stuck on my iPhone 4, so I'll be changing it within the next few months. Definitely looking for an alternative to iOS & Android, so this will be the answer on better hardware.
Arthur Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Perhaps it's worth waiting for beefier hardware. Definitely! For some reason the E4.5 struggles to play YouTube videos (~ in the video below).
Gardinho Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Another flash sale announced for tomorrow. Anyone going to try and get one? I'm still hanging on for the Meizu. Edited February 18, 2015 by Gardinho
Arthur Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Yet another flash sale tomorrow. www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2015/02/next-ubuntu-phone-flash-sale-tomorrow
Gardinho Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I'm hanging on. Seemingly another handset will be announced next week at MWC
