So the default mail app does exchange but not google and google does google but not exchange.... is there an app that can manage exchange and google email and looks nice?

on a pc log into gmail go to settings and you can add accounts not sure if you can add exchange but ive added various pop accounts before

If you'd like to centralize all your email from different accounts into one Gmail account, use Mail Fetcher. You can download messages from up to five other email accounts, including accounts from Gmail and other email providers.

 

Using Google Apps? To fetch messages from a Google Apps account, please use our POP1 settings to configure Mail Fetcher.

 

What is Mail Fetcher, and how does it work?

 

Mail Fetcher downloads all your old emails as well as new emails--if you just need to centralize new emails, try auto-forwarding your mail instead (Note: auto-forwarding only works for non-Gmail accounts).

Setting up Mail Fetcher is easy and free, but the email accounts you'd like to fetch from must support POP access and, in the case of Gmail addresses, have POP access enabled. Some free email services don't offer POP access to their users, so please contact the customer service department of your other webmail provider to determine if POP access is available in your non-Google email account. Once you've set up Mail Fetcher, Google will check your other accounts on a regular basis, and new mail will appear automatically in Gmail. Gmail checks each account at different rates, which are based on previous attempts to fetch new messages; you can't choose the frequency.

 

How to set up Mail Fetcher:

 

Click the gear icon in the upper right, then select Settings.

Open the Accounts and Import tab. (For Google Apps domains, open the Accounts tab.)

In the Check mail using POP3 section, click Add POP3 email account.

Enter the full email address of the account you'd like to access, then click Next Step.

Gmail will populate sample settings, but we recommend checking with your other provider to learn the correct server name and port. Enter your Password.

Decide whether to:

Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server

Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail

Label incoming messages

Archive incoming messages

Click Add Account.

Once your account has been added successfully, you'll have the option of setting it as a custom From address. This allows you to compose messages in Gmail, but have them appear to be sent from your other email account. Click Yes to set up a custom From address.

If you'd like to keep some separation between accounts then just use the mail app for your work email and the gmail app for your personal stuff, no?

You could create another gmail account to import your exchange.

Looks like its going to be this. Would still prefer one app, like the iOS mail app, but so far thats the only area I miss from my iPhone.

Try Touchdown, you can trial it before buying it. We use it for our work email.

Enhanced E-mail might be worth a try. There's a 7-day trial available on their forums if you need it.

Works on all five of my accounts

 

Did you not try Settings -> add account -> corporate -> exchange ?

I've been free of exchange for a few years now, so not sure how well that works.

I was adding a google account in settings instead of an exchange active sync account!

 

And now it works
