cecilcp Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Hi Can anyone advise I've got an issue with the WSUS server whereby when you try to connect to the WSUS update services snap in on the server it gives the error saying the following:- Error: Connection Error An error occurred trying to connect the WSUS server. This error can happen for a number of reasons. Check connectivity with the server. Please contact your network administrator if the problem persists. Click Reset Server Node to connect the server again. I have tried this WSUS-related Web services may stop working when you upgrade a Windows Server 2003-based computer to Windows Server 2008 and it didnt fix it. I cannot seem to connect to the update services from my machines but I can ping the server. I have stopped the services and restarted and rebooted the server. Any advice Thanks
Davit2005 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Have a look and make sure the WSUS data folder is available. This will cause a problem, normally this is on a diferent drive from the OS. Edited December 10, 2012 by Davit2005
SHimmer45 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 the account your connecting to still a member of the WSUS admin group? (assuming you are trying to connect remotely using the WSUS console from another pc)

I'll try removing it and reinstalling and seeing how it goes.

(assuming you are trying to connect remotely using the WSUS console from another pc) Well when logging onto the server as the local admin I get the error too so something else is not working with wsus
3s-gtech Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Is the Update Service service running? You get this error if one of WSUS dependant services isn't on - there may be a fault causing it to not start though, such as it running as the wrong system account.
