CAM Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Just found this from a company called KSN: Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit English 1 Pack - WN7-00403 | KSN Online 0871 230 0540 Anyone ever heard of them before? £68 for the OEM copy of Windows 8. Probably the cheapest I have seen it but seems too good to be true given it is nearly £100 elsewhere.
andy_b Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Not heard of them, but its 71.99 from ccl with free shipping: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) English International (DVD) OEM - WN7-00403 - CCL Computers With shipping added to KSN price there is only a few pence difference. 1
Arthur Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) Anyone ever heard of them before? Never heard of them before. They aren't even listed on the Companies House (or Duedil) websites which makes me suspicious. For the sake of a few pounds, I would buy it from somewhere well-known like Aria (£67.87), More Computers (£71.36), CCL (£71.99) or Scan (£73.30). given it is nearly £100 elsewhere. Are you looking for the 'Pro' edition (P/N: FQC-05955) which is around £100-£110? Edited December 3, 2012 by Arthur 1
Steve21 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Doesn't seem far off normal price. It's not pro version from what I can see. £74 on ebuyer currently (think delivery free for that price) Steve 1
CAM Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Cheers guys, I won't touch that if they aren't even listed in Companies House. Might be able to get this W8/Kubuntu dual boot sorted after all. And yeah, probably been mixing up the Pro and non-Pro versions in my searches. Been seeing a lot of three figure prices for Win 8 when looking.
LosOjos Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Have you used Win8 much yet? I'd advise trying it before you take the plunge and buy it, it's somewhat like Marmite... I say this is especially true if you are a Kubuntu user - chalk and cheese! 1
Michael Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 It is perfectly legit to have a Sole-Trader online business and not just Ltd Companies on Companies House guys Other methods are asking for their VAT number (if applicable). You'd expect a UK retailer to be registered. 1
LosOjos Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Is there a way to get a TIFKAM demo? You can get a developers evaluation version still: Download Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation 1

MYK-IT Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I have been informed (unofficially) that you can do a full clean install from this ISO (as well as an upgrade)
LosOjos Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I have been informed (unofficially) that you can do a full clean install from this ISO (as well as an upgrade) Legally?
m25man Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 The guy clearly works from home, has zero overheads and works hard to keep his customers happy passing on the savings to the end user. Dont knock the little guy's. There are plenty of ways to obtain genuine stock at supercheap prices if you know where to look, current flood zones are one of them. £59 + VAT at Distribution in a fire sale £10-20 a unit. I know of traders that get leads on damaged stock from members of the 999 services and loss adjusters directly. Most of it is shrink wrapped and once the raw sewerage is cleaned of you would never know. Thats enterprise for you. 1
CAM Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 I wasn't aware sole traders weren't listed. But you know what they say about the Internet and stuff that's too good to be true, always worth a check. Also got my VM running, Windows 8 is running pretty well under Virtual Box in Kubuntu 12.04LTS.
CAM Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 Well, I took a chance with KSN and the disk has arrived in perfectly good condition and rather quickly too. Another place to keep an eye on for kit I guess.
