So - who's playing the beta? First impressions?

 

Have to say, I'm disappointed. It's not the Populous/B&W spiritual successor I was expecting.

 

It's extremely basic, obviously the main focus is on phones/tablets despite us being promised otherwise on Kickstarter. Plus it's now clear there will be micro transactions, which is fine in principle but this isn't a F2P and it's not cheap either so I think they're taking the p**s a bit.

 

Seems like it'll be a nice casual game, especially if it syncs up between PC/tablet/phone, but it's not something I can see myself replaying in years to come like many of Molyneux's previous games.

I backed and played the alpha for a bit not played since.

did get my signed t shirt yesterday which was very cool!

 

disappointed also, I was expecting something like black and white 2 but as you say its very basic sort of face book game.

For the short time I played it, really enjoyed it.

 

I did get kicked out when I lost connection to the server so have not fully experienced the game.

That was a bug introduced by yesterday's update, it's fixed now

 

Out of curiosity (no pun intended), did you back the Kickstarter or did you come in to it via Steam Early Access?

 

I can't honestly say I'm not enjoying it (and 12 hours play time on Steam would beg to differ!) I just can't help feeling disappointed, it doesn't feel like the same game we were sold on Kickstarter.

That was a bug introduced by yesterday's update, it's fixed now

Via Steam - did see that bug was supposed to be fixed but did not work for me

While it is true that he is the king of hype to be fair his games, whilst maybe not as good as he hypes them up to be, are pretty awesome nonetheless - 'tis why I backed him on Kickstarter!

So true e.g. Fable - " we're working on realtime tree growth" (that one was hilarious)

 

What I have seen so far is good and it will be interesting to see what else will be included in the other 60% of the game.

Plus I'm too busy screaming at Russians on Dota or crap team mates on BF3 to be interested in clicking simulators!
