Similar to epson 485wi but that does not have touch. We have lots of smart boards but have epson interactive projectors. What's the rule with smart notebook as we have site licences for them. I have heard that even with this you can't use notebook on a non smart interactive display?

Not smart direct, but several Smart partners that we've had to quote over the past few years, most recently last month.

Saw them down at Bett or something very similar and indeed it looked very good indeed except when we came to play with it and it seemed very sluggish in its use, they may well have updated the software and firmware so I could be at least 9 months out of touch.

 

Also licensing is not cheap by all accounts.

The new Smart Notebook 11 has an update which puts a watermark on all non-smart interactive products. To use any version of notebook on a non-smart interactive device the user must purchase a Collaborative License from smart direct or a reseller. If you continue to use the software on non-smart interactive products you are in breach of the user license agreement.

 

A Smart notebook site license is limited to using smart notebook on smart products and no other 3rd party product.

 

If you really need to use notebook - use this: http://express.smarttech.com

 

It’s not ideal but it’s the only legal way to use notebook on a non-smart product without paying £500+ for a license per board

This will be at BETT 2013 - the one last year was the 40wi, that used once pen only.

As it's a Smart projector, according to Steljes the Smart Notebook licence is included with it, so no extra licencing needed for it unless you want Maths Tools or anything like that. (That's the situation with the 40Wi anyway)

We had a trial kit 60Wi recently, but be aware the interactivity does not work if you use an extended desktop which we have, so that staff have to drag items to the projector display, this is to prevent them from displaying emails and MIS info to the class

We would have liked to use them as a lot of staff use Smart notebook but dont necessarily want to have Smartboards or pay £500 per Smart licence in our new set up.

We will be looking at the Epson interactive projector but are not sure if it will defintely work on extended desktop yet.

Does anyone have any further info?

Are you sure it wasn’t a 40wi that you had a trial of? The 60wi will be released in spring 2013. Also if you have the SMART interactive projector the software and licence is included.

Unfortunately Epson won’t allow extended desktop use either

Just a heads up, I've just installed a 60Wi and have fallen foul of the maximum thickness of the bezel on the whiteboard we're projecting on, it can't be more than 3mm or the touch facility will not work. I'm in contact with Stejis to see if there is a work around as we'd ordered our boards seperately and Stejis have only so far found one supplier with a bezel under 3mm (TK Team), I'll post an update when I know more.

If you buy the projector from steljes - they only recomment the TK-Team Boards. These are tried and tested by steljes themselves

Can anyone tell me, does the smart lightraise 60wi have a freeze option? We brought some benq touchscreens a while back, but much to the disappointment of teachers there wasn't a freeze option.

Yep does have a freeze function. No wonder no one found it.

On the remote control you need to press the 'hide' button the wait a few seconds.

If you have tl650 screens there's a firmware upgrade to freeze. The new screens have freeze as well.

Unfortunately we have TL550's & T650's and Benq have already confirmed they don't have a firmware release that enables a freeze option.

We've just had a Benq TL550 start to play up with the interaction again with a jumpy cursor. I was using a gold Belkin 2m USB and it has been working fine. Now I can't get it working consistently for love or money. Have even tried using a hdmi for the graphics (see previous posts) and this makes no difference either.
