Cheers Russ never even heard of it, so I have not had one yet. Whats the difference, are we now saying that CRB is not full proof? Just Googled it and found that there are two levels of CRB, standard and enhanced.

Normally it is referred to as an "Enhanced CRB check" as Russ says.

Enhanced CRB Check

Also referred to as an Enhanced Disclosure. These are for posts that involve a far greater degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults. In general the type of work will involve regularly caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of such people. Examples include a Teacher, Scout or Guide leader. Enhanced checks are also issued for certain statutory purposes such as gaming and lottery licences.

This level of check involves an additional level of check to those carried out for the Standard CRB check - a check on local police records. Where local police records contain additional information that may be relevant to the post the applicant is being considered for, the Chief Officer of police may release information for inclusion in an Enhanced check. Exceptionally, and in a very small number of circumstances (typically to protect the integrity of current police investigations), additional information may be sent under separate cover to the Countersignatory and should not be revealed to the applicant.

Reason is, you can avoid anything coming up on your CRB by changing your name by deed poll. As everything is tied to your name, rather than you. The extra checks done with an ERB claim to stop this, but I'm sceptical.

My girlfriend made an inappropriate joke about not having been caught for anything yet when discussing ERB at an interview... still got the job! LOL :)

Just thought I would push this one last time also as the closing date is

Interviews to take place on 19th July 2007

Exciting opportunity for someone to join a young vibrant team...oh ok so I'm not that young any more. All the same with a new school, a 32gb backplane, gig to desktop, cisco network and ip telephony, wired and wireless, proposed 100mb broadband connection. It's got to be worth a try.
