Exchange - Standard vs Enterprise

We're interested in getting Exchange server, however, I'm wondering what exactly the differences are between the 2 versions. I've seen this page, however, can someone please explain to me what "different offerings" are?

Storage Group Support

Database Support

Database Storage Limit

Single Copy Clusters

Local Continuous Replication

Cluster Continuous Replication

 

Also, I notice to get the Unified Messaging you need an Enterprise CAL. If we brought Exchange Standard, can we still get Unfied Messaging if we buy Enterprise CALs? Or do I need to buy the full Exchange Enterprise if I want to use Unified Messaging?

You cant have a database over 14gb with the normal version, but there is a registry hack to get around this.

 

We use standard and are reached the limit. A quick google search and a registry hack later everything ran fine again.

 

We are talking 1000 users here with 20mb for students and 50mb for teachers limit.

Thats only true for Exchange 2003 Standard pre SP2. Post SP2, you get 75GB to play with. And according to that MS product info, the limit for Exchange 2007 Standard is 16TB per store with up to five stores allowed.

With enterprise you can have two separate global address lists. We did that so that one was for students and one for staff (i think.)
