nathan Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 just been made aware that the surface is now availible for pre-order Microsoft Store Germany Online Store - Herzlich willkommen i cant wait for pay day now XD then i can order mine only 4 working days to go already ordered mine, the first wave (32gb without touch cover) have already sold out in the US. I ended up getting the 64GB version (could only get the black cover though), Might get a 64GB microSD card too for movies/music/pics etc.
Earthling Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 A MS Surface with everything or a Dell Vostro laptop? Decisions, decisions, decisions..........................
AngryTechnician Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I'm waiting for the Surface Pro. The Surface RT that is now on pre-order is the ARM one that according to Microsoft's own comparison page "Works exclusively with apps available in the Windows Store." Sod that. Also, this makes a compelling argument (though if the sell-out reports are true it is wrong on one prediction): Don't Preorder Microsoft Surface
bushby Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 i would get the pro if it was released at the same time but to wait 3 months is to long, i want it now so it can partner my nokia lumia 920 thats released on the first week of november but i still might buy the pro aswell (more money then sense)
rich_tech Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I really like the look of this aside from win8 (not 100% keen on metro), Baby on the way has put the clamp on my daft spending on gadgets though for the next 18 years onwards I think, at least if I talk with the mrs about it
andyturpie Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Same you cant stick them on a domain Thought Win 8 pro can?
Theblacksheep Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Thought Win 8 pro can? Yeah, but not available yet...
FN-GM Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Thought Win 8 pro can? The Surface tablets are arm based. The Arm based version of W8 cant join a domain.
gshaw Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 The thought that struck me with the "hands off" approach until launch was that MS aren't happy with the quality of Windows 8 apps and want until the last moment to get them ready. Hardware I doubt is a massive gamble unless they've messed up something simple like battery / screen. However Windows 8 itself and the offerings in the Windows Store would be a concern, especially on the RT where you can't install anything else. Are basic apps like Facebook sorted for 8 yet as the Store so far has looked rather barren. Personally I'd like a Surface Pro but it's not worth £800+ it sounds like MS want to charge for it... I could get an equivalent laptop for less and live without the touchscreen.
Domino Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 The Surface tablets are arm based. The Arm based version of W8 cant join a domain. The surface pro (when available) won't be ARM based
FN-GM Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 The surface pro (when available) won't be ARM based Didnt know that! Thanks
bushby Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 the pro version be i5 ivey bridge, usb 3 1
