Senior IT Technician - Gloucs

We are looking to appoint a forward thinking Senior IT Technician with experience to oversee the day to day running of IT Support in conjunction with the Systems Manager. With daily line management responsibility for two technicians, this role is focused on providing 3rd line support and further developing the schools extensive IT resources.

 

Experience of large, single site networks is essential, alongside a comprehensive knowledge of Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. Knowledge of Cisco networking products and VMware is also desirable.

If you feel you have the knowledge, some experience of what is required and think you're up for the challenge then it's always worth the giving it a shot.

It is a big jump, and this is where the information you write on your application form, or put in your CV, is really important. Firstly you must make sure that your technical experience matches what they are looking for, and that it is actually written down, and secondly you must think about any experience of management you have had even though you are not currently responsible for anyone. For example, you may have taken the lead in a project where others followed what you said, or you may have extensively liaised with outside contractors or support companies, which shows good personnel interaction.
