Longest running Server/Hardware appliance

Who has the longest running server/hardware appliance.

 

By running I mean hours turned on not the old Windows 95 PC that's been sitting back doing nothing for a while.

 

Bets are the *nix guys out there will win but time will tell!

My autodesk license PC running server 2003 on Pentium 2 CPU (upgraded from NT) has files created 5th September 2001 and is used everyday. Also my WSUS is running from a workstation with a P4 with RDRAM (remember before DDR)

I have a device at a clients (juniper SSL appliance) which hasn't been off in 4 years. Then the server room is UPS'ed to the hilt and backed up with a nice generator.

Uptime: 1029days 14hours 13minutes.

 

First time I've logged into this machine in months. Gotta love set and forget servers.

Up times are nothing to be proud off, what about keeping your kernel patched! However...do clusters count? I have one here with an 8 year uptime.

Well that brings the age old question. To patch or not to patch.

 

With this 'server', we've gone down the route of not patching. It's a simple service server, has been firewalled from the rest of the network allowing only the necessary ports and can only log onto it by physically standing infront of it.

 

Fortunately, it's never had any issues.
