Shocker Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Is it possible to add windows 8 to a domain without having the local account joined to a microsoft account? just installed windows 8 and first thing i was asked was to setup with my microsoft account which is fine but I am now thinking would i need to do this for every tablet/laptop i want to join to the domain with windows 8?

On that account creation screen, they don't shout about it but there's an option to skip the Microsoft Account. We've certainly got domain members here without that problem. 1

Shocker Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 thank you for replies I am going to install the update rollup 3 for sbs 2011 tonight and then join the laptop to the domain. Thank you for the help didnt want to have to enter my microsoft details on all new tablets
ZeroHour Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 One thing to note, to use the app store you will need to link to an MS account unless you have enterprise edition and SCCM 2012 (others can probably side load too) 1

ZeroHour Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 That only applies to Metro/WinRT Api apps, other apps are fine, I am not sure if you can have a local account which uses the app store part separately or not. I have not tried w8 on the domain properly yet.

Shocker Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 It would have been handy to have used a standard account for the tablets to use all he same apps but ill give it a try in the morning on the domain to see how exactly it works
