Hi everyone I am trying to capture and deploy my windows 10 pro image but running into an issue that when I deploy the image I am ask to enter the Support and Protection information under a Services tab and this doesn't continue until its manually added. Does anyone know if I can skip this step as I have skipped other steps as part of the deployment process. any help with this would be much appreciated.

100% correct techie it's on mine as layer2 DHCP relay the switch supports layer 2 and has a couple of layer 3 features but for vlan it's layer 2 DHCP relay
-
Thank you techie2000 from what I was reading the ip helper came up allot with Cisco equipment. I am going to login and take a look at switches now to see if it's exactly as you say DHCP relay. Thank you for that tip

Because of the size it could grow and the different scope ranges I will probably put a 2nd DHCP server in just in case something happened to the main one.

I Was Going To Split everything out so that I could have separate vlans for: Cctv IP phones printers/scanners Servers/switches Computers/laptops WiFi - domain computers Byod - non domain joined Guest wifi - separate DHCP server Each of which would give me the 254 addresses per scope which for now would be more than enough for all of those above. It's just making sure that everything talks properly. So it's just getting my head around the ip helper address on the switches (have to admit it's something I haven't done). Currently the DHCP scope range I have is using a subnet of 255.255.0.0 so in order for me to change or start creating a new scope I need to look at a new ip range and subnet. Or its going to be take everything down and work on it over holiday break making sure it's working for when everyone gets back.

Thank you I will go over the servfault post but as you say the first thing the clients do will be check the switch.

Thank you very much - - - Updated - - - Thank you everyone honestly today it just seemed like I was beating my head against a brick wall

Do I need to put a option in the scopes so that they know to point back to the DHCP or anything?
-
Thank you very much. For me at the moment 254 is perfect per subnet. But will that allow me to create new DHCP scopes for those ranges with no issues?

Hi everyone I know this my sound like a networking 101 question but I've been playing about with this all day and wanted to see if someone could shed some light on this. I want to start using VLANS for better security especially when it comes to adding in a guest wifi network and also sip based IP phones so I can use qos for the calls. At the moment I have a single DHCP server which for talks sake is dealing out a single ip range 172.16.0.1 /16 and the subnet is 255.255.0.0. My question is I know this then allows me to use up to 172.16.255.255 or abouts but if I wanted to start using vlans and say: 172.16.0.1 - default 172.16.1.0 - vlans 1 172.16.2.0 - vlans 2 And so on is this possible if I used a subnet of 255.255.255.0? I would still want to keep using the single DHCP server and say put switches and servers on the .0.1 range then computers on the 1.0 range, printers on the 2.0 and IP phones on the 3.0 range. For guest wifi access I am going to use a separate ip range altogether and have the firewall with DHCP handle that keeps them separate totally. But is this possible? My switches are all layer 3 switches can someone please point me in the right direction or am I barking up the wrong tree trying to use the same subnet 255.255.255.0 for each vlan? Thank you

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has come across this issue before or know of a fix, I have set the cache level for emails to 12 months on all the clients mailboxes within outlook because I thought that when it came to an email older than 12 months you could click the "click here for more emails on server". The issue I have seen is that the outlook client does say more emails are available on the exchange/server but it doesn't show a click here to view or click here to search on exchange link. The link from what I can see only appears if you change the setting from 12 months to ALL let it download a full cache of the users emails and then switch it back to 12 months. I am in the process of running exchange CU11 but even after looking over the fixes it didn't mention anything about this so I wondered if anyone else had seen this issue before?

Hi everyone was hoping for a bit of help with this one please, i have published a calendar online and then shared this out with the ics link to iPhones and everything seems to be working i can also view this calendar on the outlook clients which is great but the rights that are set as default is read only is there anyway that i can change this to allow the users to edit the calendar especially on the iPhones. When i try to change the publishing details to Editor i get an error saying "The policy doesn't allow anonymous sharing with Editor" but i am not sure were this policy is stored? I am running and exchange 2013 server with CU7 installed (going to install CU8 tonight) any help would be great appreciated.

Hi everyone really looking anyone's help with this issue, at some point last night i lost my SQL database from one of my Drives before the backup started, this means i can only restore the database back from a previous day. Now i have the SQL transaction logs going to a separate drive which i have a backup from yesterday evening. If i restore my SQL database back from Tuesday nights back is there anyway i can use Wednesdays transaction logs to get the database basically back to Wednesday's data? All the files used are also saved in a separate drive from the database and the transaction logs so i have access to all of those from Wednesday except the database which i will only be able to restore Tuesday nights database backup. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone was hoping some advice with this, i have disabled Read/Write to removable disks and WPD devices through group policy and its working perfect but i was wondering is it possible with this setting enabled can i give access to specific devices for individuals? for instance if i have a certain memory stick (say admin) and i want anyone to be able to read write to this can i add the GUID to an exception list which allows people to use this specific memory stick?
