It's me, circa 1982/3 with my first computer, the illustrious ZX81 I love the way I appear to be coding something - which must have been a game - and due to the lack of any computer desks back then I'm on the floor :/ Oh yes! And note the black and white portable TV with dial tuner Anyone else got any retro pics of themselves with classic computers/consoles?

By the time I got rid of it (I had it for about 3 years) it had a proper keyboard and a whole raft of add-ons. I wish we'd kept it now. It'd probably be worth a fortunes for the add-ons alone! I 'upgraded' to a Commodore C16, then to an Atari 130XE and once I'd been posted to Germany with the army finally got myself a C64

It had a cartridge reader in the side of the keyboard and came with the game Burning Rubber i think.... I was lucky enough to have a Dad who no matter what bought home from work the latest bit of kit at the time. So I went though all the ZX range, BBC and commodore kit.

Alas, any pic's of me from the 80's have been ritually burned. Even so, the furthest I go back is the 16k ZX Spectrum which I got (more borrowed and never gave back) off a next door neighbout in '85. A year later parents bought a green screen CPC464 off the same neighbour which I had until I left school in '93 and was able to buy my own first computer - Amiga 600 complete with 14.4k modem, colour dot matrix printer, 20mb hard drive and 2mb Ram - oh yeah! I was rocking it lol.
sonofsanta Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 My profile pic is me sat at a typewriter, before I even had a computer... although looking at it, within the year I'd have had my A500 and stopped seeing my family as I spent every hour hunched in front of the 14" colour TV. I even hid the Lemmings floppy as my Dad liked playing it, which meant I couldn't get on and play Captain Planet. Still got the Amiga set up in my man cave now

I "would" have had simialir photo's but for the fact that I think I had the ZX81 before we got a reliable family camera or at least a camera that's snaps didn't fade massivley (damn you early Kodak instants)...
