DarshanC Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 A few of our RM ones have died recently and are showing the same symptoms. Once switched on they stay on for 1-5 seconds before switching off again. Then after a few seconds they turn on by themselves again and repeats the same thing. Nothing appears on the screen and it does not get to do its POST. Any ideas of what it could be? And if its an easy fix.
rad Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Ram or PSU gone. Typical symptoms on our RM ones too. Log a call with RM to sort if under warranty 1

rad Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 And if they are not, boil the kettle before changing a psu!

cpjitservices Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Could not be a short on the mobo ? Maybe even a bit of dust under the motherboard itself. I'd dismantle and put it back together!
zmartin Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I would call RM and log a support call. If this is still under warrenty they will swap this out.
Oaktech Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Got a Novatech doing this and with a multimeter we have diagnosed PSU. PSU is able to hold the rails up untill DVD drive spins up, then the draw from the motor causes the 12v rails crash to around 120mV and it reboots, removing the DVD results in it lasting about 30 seconds longer before rails crash.
DarshanC Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 turns out it was the PSU, thanks for the advice guys!
