alemanyorks Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 We bought a batch (5) of cheap Infocus IN104s about a year ago and so far 2 of them have gone back with the classic DLP chip failure, white/black specs all over the image that increases with time. Can't fault their service though, no quibble 2 day replacement with new unit, better if we didn't have the hassle though. Also had the same issue with identical re-badged Acer units, don't think I'll be buying DLP again, nice they are filter less but don't seem reliable.
Oaktech Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Hitachi UST for us, easier and cheaper to install, less affected by window glare, don't shine in the teachers eyes, no ladder training required to service, long filter clean intervals, pretty long bulb life and network management, and network show features.

jmak Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I know this topic goes around endlessly, but I've still got queries............... We have a mix of Epson EB83's, 84's and 93's which have been bought through our LA at around £470 / unit. Does anyone know why we'd buy these instead of the widely recommended EB X11's for less than £300? Also, does anyone know of any special offers still around on the Hitachi A220's? I keep thinking that I should start the move to UST, but the extra cost of that plus changing the mounts puts me off. Might go if the price is right, but I think that my next move might be to interactive LCD screens when we replace the SMARTboards. Who knew projectors could make for such complicated decisions.............. Thanks in advance
Oaktech Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 the a220 is now thoroughly EOL, I haven't been able to get one for months. the 221 we get for £647 including the wall mount, which is £50 less than the 220!
