FN-GM Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 Ok everyone forget it, it was just a thought if i had a urgent problem it could be resolved quickly than waiting for someone to repost. I was only going to use the addresses for that use not go and spam them etc
webman Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Yes I am cynical. But I also don't see what the big deal is with secrecy and paranoia over MSN
acrobson Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Yes I am cynical. But I also don't see what the big deal is with secrecy and paranoia over MSN )I am definately cycnical too, after nearly 5 years working for educational ICT, it makes you that way, 2000 kids and 150 wanna be teachers! Do you think it's about time we change the name of this topic to ' Do you have to be cynical to work in IT...?' What were we talking about again.....?!?!?!?!

acrobson Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 So in reality, this guy is on about setting up some kinda communication link for people in IT who may need help with IT issues and when they do they can source from this communication link, however, he is discussing setting up this 'new fangled' IT communication hot swap point on a current, well established IT forum. It just begs the question!
acrobson Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Callum, can i suggest that you PM people your email address in as appose to posting it for all to see, just a suggestion.
webman Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 however, he is discussing setting up this 'new fangled' IT communication hot swap point on a current, well established IT forum. It just begs the question! Doesn't it just
Joedetic Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 No acrobson...he just wants some points of contact for his own ICT issues and maybe to get a job. Which...i'd have said Edugeek was perfect for....why re-invent the wheel?

webman Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Communication.. collaboration.. networking.. isn't that what IT's all about?

acrobson Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Communication.. collaboration.. networking.. isn't that what IT's all about? I remember that, before i started working in schools that is! Ah, fond memories. Oh well..hopefully not long until i am let out on paroll of what we all know as Educational IT.
Joedetic Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Yes...but also a big part of life-online is maintaining a little bit of personal space where it's required. Hence reluctantness to give out MSN addresses that you use for communicating with family and close friends to a random 16-year old from edugeek...however responsible he might be. Jesus H Christ....I'm only 19 next month....i must be getting old before my time.
_Bat_ Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Umm, guys/girls... why all the fuss? All he did was ask for peoples MSN addresses. He didn't say "give me your msn address or die a slow and horrible DDOS". I actually remember a thread on here before asking exactly the same question. In that thread no-one complained and several people gave theirs out. That is how I ended up with several of you on MSN. I'm not entire sure why people are being so skeptical about the purpose of the original question. It seemed quite honest and legitimate to me.
FN-GM Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 sorry about the spelling mistakes, but all i want is to get to know people better and get advice from them. It is easier to do on something like MSN, Skype e.t.c

If you don't mind me saying, that is just picking for a fight (however possible that is over a forum).
_Bat_ Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Times change! I just can't see the point in being so mean about it. All it required was just not respond to the thread if you didn't want a fellow forum member on your contact list. The question was honest and legitimate, no offense at all was intended.
