penfold_99 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 He has finally got himself over the finishing line and won the US open. He is also the first player to win the us open and Olympic gold in the same year! What a year we've had in sport, the sports personality of the year is going to be a hard, Murray would have reached the Wimbledon final, won gold at the Olympics and won his first major and I doubt he will make the top 3.
mthomas08 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Fingers crossed a Brit wins F1 as well!
VeryPC Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 It was an epic match - did anyone see the classic Murray emotionless post match interview ? one day he will smile or at least look happy that he is a champ! Andy
aerospacemango Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I have to say that I was one of those doubters that he has proved wrong. I believed that he would not find the game to take Federer/Nadal or Djorkovic. However, after Wimbledon, it was obvious that he was still improving though I firmly believe that the Olympic gold medal is responsible for this Grand Slam victory. Roared on by the crowd at the Olympics, he produced his best performances to take Novak and Roger without losing a set. The confidence that this would have given him cannot be understated. Congratulations to him on an epic performance!
VeryPC Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I'm super chuffed that he's bagged his first slam and won Olympic gold too all in the same year, but the British public won't let him off the hook until he wins Wimbledon proper, so there'll be no let up in pressure next year for the poor bloke. I'd love to see him do that of course, but even if he never wins another tournament, he's still the most successful British male for over half a century, so flipping well done to you, sir! Mcshammer_dj Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Gosh that now makes it 2 tournaments in a row that he is being refered to as the "British Tennis Star" watch what happens when he loses the next grand slam and reverts to the "Scottish Tennis Player"
teejay Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Gosh that now makes it 2 tournaments in a row that he is being refered to as the "British Tennis Star" watch what happens when he loses the next grand slam and reverts to the "Scottish Tennis Player" I thought the Scots had disowned him after he draped a Union flag around his shoulders at the Olympics Brilliant performance by Murray and congratulations to him.
skunk Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Awesome, hoped he had it in him and he has proved equal to the task! Great summer of sport! @Mcshammer_dj - Don't jump up and down in celebration or that chip may fall off your shoulder 1
