I use the sessions option quite a lot to see whos logged on, but I have noticed recently a few people are displayed as logged onto computers with pc names that shouldnt be out there. They are names we have created in the past when doing images etc but they have been renamed since

Tried a simple ping to see if Id been stupid and left one with the wrong name, but no luck. Tried nslookup but there is no record for that machine name (thats how old they are)

Thought it might be a DNS replication problem so tried the same nslookup on my other DNS server but still nothing.

The computer is not still in AD either

This doesnt happen often, like today its one person with a weird machine listed, but theres normally 1 or 2 and they are normally different names. Where is is picking it up from?

I've only come across it a few times but I just manually removed the DNS records from AD and re-renamed the computer. The dodgy names that kept on appearing where from when the computer was imaged and it was using the sysprep-generated random name.

Not so helpful if you have a lot of PC's doing it but :?
