So background info most people think of Loughborough being a little market town and in some respects they are right. But it has some pockets of high deprivation. Due to our catchment area and our reputation that we work well with the students. We get more than our fair share of "troubled" kids and along with previous factors as well we end up having same problems of inner city school with out the funding.

Some of our students come from backgrounds that have seen way too much in thier lifetime.

Anyway as people know we went through ofsted Weds/Thurs and students did us proud and while can;t talk about report in detail until it comes out in 3 weeks. It is very good.

Few comments made by students over the past few days: -

Student :- "You look tired miss"

Teacher: "I am in fact all the staff are"

Student: "Don't worry it will be over in few hours"

Student to staff member:- "Will they close us down if we get a bad report like {insert name of local school who was closed down after bad report} if our report is bad. Hope they don't

Student when asked by inspector which classes he didn't like "Don't like maths but teacher is great"

Today we had whole school assembly so we as staff could thank the kids..

The head decided to play to the students "Simply the best" (hence my earlier request. It was great... fun was had by all students and staff (including staff dancing).

It was this past week we have gone through everything as staff and students together as a school and it has just reminded me why i work in schools.

Anyway enough of that...

:)

You see I am sentimental old fool when it comes to it...

I just do think sometimes we are so quick to remember bad things students do or problem politics that go in schools that good times get forgotten.

The last time we got ofsteded we got closed down, relaunched under a new name a year later and they gave us some new management to play with. Yay!

Don't worry Russ; It'll be back to normally on Monday. They'll have stolen all your network cables and sold them for scrap while the staff were down the pub celebrating...

The thing I miss most about teaching is that some of the kids can be absolutely fantastic - even the ones that sometimes you think are little sh*ts! When I see the adverts trying to get new teachers which point out how fantastic schools are, I know that it's not always like that but it is sometimes and I think a lot of other jobs don't have that kind of reward (and challenge!)
