Hi guys,

I've got a 2007 Xserve that I had been in the process of upgrading from 10.4 to 10.7. I've got 10.7 installed and went to download the server app from the app store, but since mountain lion's release this has been upgraded to require 10.8. Not a problem I think, i'll upgrade the server to 10.8, save for the fact that 10.8 doesn't support my 2007 xserve.

Anybody got any good ideas? Need to either force 10.8 onto this server or get hold of the 10.7 server app somehow.

Matt

Does your Xserve have a video card in it? We've got a 2007 Xserve, but the person who bought it (who has since left) didn't get a video card in it, so it can't be configured in a pre boot environment. The hard drives need to be reformated into whatever FS OSX 10.7 needs. I've since gone and bought a mac mini with Lion, so much easier!

Hi, just wanted to let you know, I've been in the same boat with an old xserve, I've just got off the phone from Apple after about an hour, they are shipping me a physical copy of 10.7 Server for £14.00. It took a lot of explaining what I was after to various people, back and forth from technical support to sales support but it finally happened!

Clearly I didn't bug Apple enough for that! I think what we're going to end up doing is installing Parallels with Server 2008 and using it as a Windows server.
