GCSE Coursework being scrapped?

I notice the BBC are reporting that GCSE coursework is going to be scrapped for 9 core subjects due 'cheating', eg help from parents and/or copying of the internet. Instead, pupils will be doing 'monitored' projects in school during class time.

 

Doesn't this make the current push for VLE's rather pointless?

VLE's were soooo last year.

really though, VLE's aren't (or don't need to be) just for graded coursework.

Teachers are scared of losing importance and being relegated to their PC marking work on a VLE.

 

They know that eventually the schools they teach in will be manned solely by the IT techs - no teachers required.

 

They're just putting off the inevitable as much as they can. This is their last stand.. bless!
