Hi,

 

A quick question when a client send an e-mail to All staff with 6MB of attachments. Are the attachments saved to the store or to all of the client mailboxes?

Each and every mailbox has a copy - 2010 has removed the Single Instance Storage of earlier exchange versions.

Yup as domino says - it stores a copy in each mailbox so for 60 staff you have 6 x 60 = 360mb in the database.

 

Personally I would recommend you get staff to hyperlink to the files in a shared drive. Once staff get used to this its actually very simple and just as easy as adding the attachment in the first place.

I was told 2010 did do de-dupe... I thought it had gone and come back..

 

We had novell groupwise which had done de-dupe for ages.

 

Oh well...

SIS has been removed for messages but not attachments in 2007 and completly removed in 2010.

Let me just check something... What, precisely, do you think the difference between "the store" and "all client mailboxes" is?

The reason I ask is because "the store" is a database that contains all the client mailboxes. Therefore your question doesn't make much sense. You've got some good answers that assume you're talking about single instance storage, but if you are not talking about that then what are you talking about?
