Rawns Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 (edited) I loved the MoH, CoD &, BiA games and found the WW2 setting for these games great fun. While most people may think WW2 has been done, done, and done again, based on the fact that game engines and their capabilities have advanced hugely, I'd love to see a reboot with today's tech. The D-Day landing level was awesome in the first MoH game. Well, imagine what it would be like using the Battlefiled 3 or ARMA3 engine! Edited July 6, 2012 by Rawns
CyberNerd Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad - Sniper Elite V2 on Steam
cromertech Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad - Sniper Elite V2 on Steam I second these two. Very different types of game. Sniper Elite is an excellent game and very tricky on the hardest level.
aerospacemango Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I preferred the WWII games, as the tech was simpler, and it took a bit more skill to get kills.... Let's face it, pretty much anyone can run through CoDMW3 with a machine gun, cutting down all before you, whereas BF1942 and MoH had a bit more stategy to them. I still think that nothing beats flying a Spitfire over Gazala and strafing the Hun!!!
CAM Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 That's because the games set in WW2 were before the current crop of "dumb it down because player numbers are all that matter" attitude. Although small details like longer reloads for empty weapons, fire select switches and blinding with laser/taclight are parts of BF3 I quite like! Current direction seems to be in the future. BF3 is set slightly forward of current time, Black Ops 2 is well into the future, Dust 514 will be so far in the future it is another galaxy altogether!
tarquel Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 @Rawns: You'll be looking forward to this then ;) Bought Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad when it on special offer on Steam for about £5 (i got the deluxe version for £7.49 i think). Played it off and on for a week but really really hardcore online, though really refreshing game i felt from its engine and general atmos of things. Will fire it up again sometime i think
featured_spectre Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Dice team players of BF3 said the next one will likely be WW2 and probably a remake of 1942...some of the maps on there...wow!
rich_tech Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I was actually playing Day of Defeat:Source on the weekend for the first time in about a year, I think a BF1942 remake would be awesome, just hope that they make aiming with weapons a bit better this time around though if they do that, used to tear your hair out aiming at people in it at times.
featured_spectre Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Frostbite 2 / 3 engine + WW2 + BF3 style unlocks = mayhem I will enjoy immensely 1
