Projector Audio

Over the past few years we have been installing Smartboards and projectors into our rooms, but due to budget have been relying the projectors speakers rather than amp/speakers.

 

We are now having the problem where some projectors are blowing their tiny speakers and leaving the room with no audio for dvd/vhs. I need to look at buying some kinda hi-fi system to allow the scart-component audio plugs...

 

Anyone help me out with some "budget" solutions.

Buy something really cheap, like a small amp + speakers,, they take the phono's which is part of your composite. (the red and white ones)

 

or you could get a pair of speaker cables, and get a FMPhono - minijack cable.

 

Swings and roundabouts really... although the PC speakers would work out cheaper, just dont get landed with USB powered ones.

We've looked into standard powered stereo speakers - normal PC ones but wall-mountable with 3.5mm extensions to the computer if necessary; but never got round to actually getting them in.

We have a mix of different things here. From mini-hifi's to wall mounted purpose made speakers. The one I have been introducing is just using a standard set of PC speakers on a couple of little shelves on the wall. Provide a stereo jack -> phono adapter and you can plug whatever you want in, and it can be done for £20 a room.

We sell them but i get told off if i put that on.

They're very similar to some of the ones we have. They do the job well but cost more than my solution in my experience.

They do cost more but are so more proffesional. Talk to any Sahara dealer (barter) and you could get them for as little as £45.00

I cant recommend the Labtec Pulse 485s enough. Really really good sound for something so cheap and small (and im an audiophile so that really is a compliment for computer speakers!) At £20 a pop you really cant go wrong!

 

IME amps should only be used when absolutely nessisery as the teachers abuse them and they only last 5mins - no matter how many times i tell them that the volume needs turning down when switching on, or not to put food or books over the vents...

 

Ive been using a Jack to RCA cable to allow them to use an external DVD/video player - simply hooked up via the PC with line in volume un-muted, then out through the PC speakers.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, discussed with the HM and he's keen on the wall mounted ones away from kiddies hands so just waiting to see how many he wants lol...
