PC isn't idle

I've got some machines which don't ever seem to be idle for the screensaver to kick in. Other than remotely monitoring task manager, is there anything out there that will tell me what is running on a computer when it's sat there doing nothing? But then in essence it will be doing something, but at least I can see what is running in addition. There's probably a really obvious solution to this that I'm just not seeing.

So what would be the best way to run that, locally on the machine or will remotely give me the information I need too? It can only be one of a few programs that's stopping the machine idle as these machines are the only ones with these programs on, and the only ones I've seen which don't go to screensaver. I know you said not remote monitoring but best one we use is Yet Another Process Monitor

Reason I said not remote is because this will keep the PC doing something, right, so it won't be idle? I guess every way I do it that's going to be an issue though.

 

Will run these tools and then use elimination process to find the culprit!

Obvious question, but have you tried disconnecting the mouse and keyboard. All it takes is a little jitter from a cheap or malfunctioning mouse, for example, to prevent screensavers, sleep mode, etc. kicking in.
