Windows Firewall NOT going off buy policy applying

Oh, how I love Microsoft......NOT

Find attached a screen shot of reprot from a laptop in regards to a setting within group policy which as you can see is set on the default domain policy - IE - Windows Firewall is set to OFF.

Yes I know you should not make changes on the default domain policy but this is a network I have NOT setup so please don't shout.

When you check the laptop the firewall is still set to ON. Laptop is Windows7 64 bit. Anyone seen anything similar ?

And yes I've forced a gpupdate etc.......

Even if you set the policy on the Default Domain Policy, there's most likely a conflicting policy further down the chain.

I remember the way I learned it - the further the policy is (down the branch of a tree), this policy takes priority. The Default Domain Policy of course being the trunk of the tree.
