HP CP1515n says "Paper Jam in Tray 2" when there is no jam

Having an annoying problem with a CP1515n. It intermittently says there's a jam in tray 2, but when you pull out the tray and examine the printer, there appears to be nothing wrong Anyone have any ideas what's up with it?

WE HAVE THESE

pull out the tray

lift the slot for tray 1

pull down the metal piece instructions are on the metal piece

 

check in there

 

also if the paper is not 100% set correctly the printer thinks it has a jam

 

take all paper out

 

re set to a4 using the sliders

Thanks round2it, I found those instructions too, including a video. For HP the paper was just there crumpled in the tray. For me, there's no sign of anything. I'm thinking either the sensor(s) gone daft, or there's a tiny piece of paper stuck somewhere incredibly difficult to get to.

try manually putting a piece of card through the rollers i find a laminated piece of a4 works quite well

 

dont do it with the unit on though (melting of the laminate is very hard to get out)

Just a thought not sure how much help this will be, take all the paper out including any jams if you can see any paper stuck around any rollers etc.

 

Power off the machine and disconnect from mains for about 10 seconds, close the paper tray

 

Then power the printer back on and let it load and should give you an error to say no paper in tray etc, then load the paper back in and try again ?

The printer does work after some fiddling. Today for example, I pulled the tray out, put it back in, pressed ok, waited for it to initialise, it complained again about a jam, repeated process, this time it worked again. It's just happening a lot these days, so was wondering if there's anything that can be fixed/replaced or is it time to order a new one...

I have one and it does it all the time. I have tried everything and the only thing that really works is switching it off, unplugging it and leaving it for a bit. I have had a printer guy in and he had a look - apparently there is a part you can't change in them - can't remember what - but it would be the bit you would change for this issue. Basically he said they are just lightweight printers probably not good enough for the amount of work they are asked to do. He advised changing it

I was going to suggest they get a new one. It's almost done 30k pages...
