How to stream a live webcam on a LAN?

Hi all

 

Just wondering how to go about this. One of my primary schools were hatching some chicks and they wanted all classrooms to be able to watch them. I tried using VLC 2 but was unsuccessful. Has anyone ever managed it and if so how?

Windows Media Encoder can do this, set it up to use a dedicated MMS port, then you just the kids/teachers to open up that MMS stream in WMP.

I don't suppose you have any instructions? I used VLC in streaming mode, the cam was streaming, I just couldn't open it on other pc's.
