djones Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I have a working WDS installation for deploying WinXP images. I want to deploy Win7 and fancy using MDT to help. Am I ok to install MDT on my working WDS server? I would snapshot the VM beforehand anyway just to be on the safe side. Thanks, Dave

We use MDT 2012 for our deployment and WDS for our PExe boot. Works a dream. Best advice is to read the sticky at the top of the forum for all all the advice in the world. Gareth

SYNACK Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 They are completely seporate things really, MDT just chucks together drivers and scripting into a nice interface which outputs WinPE WIM and ISO files. You import this WIM into WDS as another boot option then you can just pick it as another option from the list at the PXE boot screen.
