I am running through the SWGfL and have asked them to open the ports specified on the meraki support docs:

Destination IP: Meraki.com, amazon.com

I still cannot get any iPADS' to check-in.

I've checked the smoothwall and when querying the realtime webfilter for the iPAD's IP I don't seem to get a block:

09:14:52 10.107.91.1 https://n19.meraki.com OK (200)

Just lines similar to the above.

Has anyone else got meraki working through the SWGfL with a meru/smoothwall combo?

Kenny,

I had the same as you until I added the destination IP addresses mentioned in the same docs - namely 54.247.66.142, 72.249.183.161, 50.18.152.159 for iOS.

You might have solved it since your post, but this might help others.

To all SWGFL Maraki Users:

Has anyone managed to resolve the issue with Meraki and IOS through SWGFL please and if so, how? Would love to use Meraki but getting the same issues as reported here, devices wont connect. It all works fine as soon as out of our network.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Been a silent reader for a while but finally registered! So first post.

Its pretty much my full time job working with apple in education so I know my fair share about iPads and MDM software especially in schools. What I think it will be is that there not connecting to apples APN severs. (Apple push notification) Check that ports TCP 5223 2195 2196 443 are open and then I believe it should work! Hope this helps guys.

Thanks for the reply Adam - those ports are open but apparently Meraki wont work with a non-transparent proxy. Can anyone confirm this?

If you are on Twitter ask merakisimon or Meraki_se - both are top blokes who know the systems inside out and are best placed to tell you!

Did anyone manage to get to the bottom of this or is it a non-starter with a non transparent solution? I too can get the devices to enroll fine but synchronization will not finish and no config can be made remotely.

Hmmm glad I found this, I have tried the Android route and come across the same problem registereing the tablets, take it off the school wifi and works fine. I was provided with the same ip, port info which was set to be allowed in our server firewall but no change. A pity as I would really like this to work. Do we have a definitive answer on getting the android or IOS (which is my next step) to work through a school Wifi using a proxy address?

Hi has anyone managed to get Meraki MDM to work when device is connected to a proxy network? I am trying to set this up for Ipads and managed to enrol and push out apps on a home wifi connection but as soon as the device is behind a proxy it will not check in with the server. Im not 100% sure whether it is a proxy based problem or filtering/port issue.

We are now looking into a transparent proxy solution. Tried everything to get this working but had no luck. As a quick workaround to get some deployed we set up a laptop as a Wireless HotSpot and connected the ipads to that.
