VGeek Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 We Need a cooling system badly our 7 servers currently reach a warm 45 deg C and its not in the full swing of summer yet. Our reciliant servers have not given up the ghost yet. Hopefully they are still working by time we get air conditioning should be getting that in 2 years maximum. I hope its sooner than that, dont want the new dell server to be a waste of money already had tasks fail because of the warmth in the server room.
mrphil Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 best thing to do with air con is get 2 units that are between 80 and 90% (individually) capable of cooling the room and the servers and run them both at around 20c your servers will have no problems. My biggest bugbear is when people have air con on in room but leave windows and doors open... are they idiots
mullet_man Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 We are finally getting air con, it should be here on Wednesday. Can't wait, we have a south facing office so its boiling all the time.
MyDejaVu Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 adding the problem of heat generated by servers, pcs and network devices, we have a "small" problem with the heating system so some parts of the school are very hot, so you imagine the servers room, we just were allowed one portable unit but it cannot cope, temperature is around 33 degrees...
Geoff Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Insulation works in both directions. Insulate your 'cold' server room against your 'hot' school.
webman Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 41°c in the room this morning when I walked in. :angryfire:
