What MP3 Player for running

What MP3 player would people recommend? Before people say an Ipod I'm so Anti-Apple I couldn't even touch one!

 

I may have just signed myself up for the 10 mile Great south run in October and for those who know/have met me I'm not the smallest chap in the world so I have 6 months to get fit and get ready!

So lite its untrue! nothing to it, and loved the idea of quick charge in 5 mins for 90 min of use!

Sorry glennda, im not that much of an enthusiast lol, It normally goes into my shorts or joggers, and the headphones goes inside my top and out the neck...Tried it today and was great little mp3 player for 40 quid.

neither am I lol I'm a 15 stone unit! Just all my shorts that I would run in are my rugby ones with useless pockets! TBF might be easier to get some new shorts!!

I've got an original Sansa Clip, nice little no nonsense player. I had a few issues using FLAC files (which I understand aren't as standardised as MP3s), but with MP3s it's been fine.

 

I've only stopped using it because I now have an iPhone.

Eugh Iphone! I will look at them - at £33 on Amazon will see if I can find it cheaper anywhere!!

Another vote for the Sansa Clip. The 'clip' part of the design an excellent feature, you don't have to be exercising to use it, clip it to your shirt collar or sleeve. Far better than any arm band or pouch.

 

It's compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux, just drag and drop to/from the Sansa, no need for any software.

Forgot to mention rockbox for the sansa clip too - much better than the default firmware.

I know your not an apple fan which is a shame because the combination of an iPod Nano + LunaTik strap using the Nike+ app lets you run with the nano on your wrist so you can listen to your music plus use it as a GPS so you can see the ever important distance and pace stats without having to pay a lot for a good garmin.

Did you get anything in the end? I've been thinking of getting one for a while now and with the weather getting better (I hope) I want something I can listen to when I'm out for a run. I just want it to clip on and go and also not spend a lot of money if I can help it.

This is what I was looking for but was a little bit worried about the battery. But for the price, I'm still tempted to see how it goes.

Unfortunately I have enough problems with battery life on my phone as it is, I wouldn't trust it to last long enough for a full run without constantly having it on charge. Thats why I was looking at something for running/the gym so I can just stick a load of music on there and leave in my bag for when it's needed.

I use a Creative Zen...it has 4gb built in storage but an SDHC slot that supports up to 64gb cards, simple drap and drop, battery lasts about a week (1-2 hours each day) and its very light. You can even buy a sports clip thing to clip it to your waist band or what ever

This is kind of related to the oringinal post, but what do you guys use for headphones for these devices? I take it over the ears are much better for running, but what about rain resistance?

I use Skull candy chops which are over the ear, they never break considering how much i sweat (buckets) so i doubt a little rain would affect them much. Also have lifetime warranty or if you break them yourself you get half price off your next pair.
