Anyone got a good solution for backing up pocketpc.

The reason I ask is that my pda is slowly going and need to do hard reset every so often. The backup that comes with pocketpc backs up pim data but not software intstalls etc.

So every time have to do a reset have to put software back on etc etc.

If got a complete backup then can just rerun that and done.

So anyideas

Did you install the software via activsynch? If so then they should still be there in the console on your PC for you to reselect and reinstall?!?!

a bit after the horse as bolted - but if you had got a memory card in the palm pilot and installed the software to that then it would still be there after a reset.

hi russ

active sync has a built-in backup feature which allows you to backup the contents of your Pocket PC to a file on the hard drive on your Windows PC. In the event your Pocket PC loses its information, the backup file can restore all of the programs, data, settings, etc

To create a backup file, sync your Pocket PC with your PC using ActiveSync. Select the "Backup/Restore" function.

The Backup/Restore Menu allows you to choose one of several Backup options; you can specify whether to do a complete or incremental backup, choose to have the Pocket PC backed up on each sync, and even set where you would like the backup file stored on your Windows PC.

If you have never backed up your Pocket PC before, choose "Full Backup", select the folder in which you would like the backup file stored, and click "Backup Now." A picture is taken of your Pocket PC's memory and is saved on your hard drive.

pm. me if you need any more info :D

Can't you get a replacement battery Russ? Mine involves removing the case - no easy task as the screws are 3 point star, but batteries for it are available on eBay.

Not battery dyeing the issue anyway that was just about the fact when it dies pim data only get put across.

Issue is that failing in other ways and every so often have to do hard reset hence why needed backup solution..
