Disable mixer- Not global volume control

In our IT suite all the computers sound mixer gets messed up because the kids keep playing with the sliders, I have been called in to see why they are having problems hearing any sound or just hearing it in one ear and I usually find that the various sliders in the mixer (wave,CD, master, etc) have been moved and the balances adjusted all the way left/right

 

so What I want to be able to do it disable the ability to bring up the full mixer but sill allow the master volume slider to appear via the usual single click on the speaker icon on the taskbar notification area.

 

I had a look in group policy but I can only find

 

User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Start menu and Taskbar >>

remove volume control icon

I found a SndVol.exe in Windows\system32 you could try stopping that from running in the students policy I guess. Try it on a test user first jus to make sure it doesn't cause issues. Edited April 17, 2012 by Davit2005

I've installed keyboards with volume controls on and not provided a volume control on the desktop.

We use QuickMix to restore settings, it uses a config file which is a 'snapshot' of your mixer settings.

So you set all the sliders to the values you want and save it, afterwards you can start with quickmix.exe mysettings.qmx (or whatever you name your config), put it somewhere in your startup script or whatever you wanna use to launch it at startup/login.
