HI All,

 

Within the next month i will put together a document on how to implement apple into your school.

 

I will be covering the following

 

- Setting up apple workstation for your network

- Imaging process for few to several machines

- admistration of apple server on Windows network

- How to setup a dual boot operating system

- How to deploy a dual boot operating system

- Plus more

 

If you have any suggestions on what you want in the document please let me know.

If you shop around you can get PC cases as nice, if not nicer than apple, and at a fraction of the cost

Changing the HDD could not be more difficult with an imac :/

But we have a apple contact and we never have to open them up

whole lot of expenditure for very little gain as far as I am concerned but i guess its chacun a son gout as they say somewhere in france. Its a case of like them or not, they look neat and snazzy are good at media and graphics which i guess is the intended market area. As far as schools are concerned i would always stick with pcs but have a mac suite as well. We had one at the previous school and just used smb to connect to the network and that was sufficient.

 

I can't see what a mac can do that a pc can't these days.

Can i ask for how to authenticate macs in Active directory?

You could say aswell you can't see what a pc can do that a mac can do. Oh yeh i can you can have both operating systems on a Mac with ease.

 

We could go all day with the pros and cons of both.

Use a Mac for a while and your likley to be converted I certainly was. I'm not always sure i could justify the price diferance for a school. However IMac's arent that expensive now especialy with edu priceing.

Although...when you talk of a "personal computer" to just about every person you meet, Windows and "PC" are synonymous. As the fabled market share argument tells us.

Problem with this kind of statement is that there will always be people that have personal experience to the contary. I have had my fair share of frustration with my Mac, I know exactly where all my stuff is and can find shortcuts quicker on my PC so that makes me more productive there and Enjoy isn't the word I would use working with any computer!!

 

As has been said before it's all swings and roundabouts depending on the taks and your previous experience.
