Edu-IT Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Am I wrong to assume that schools don't allow the running of executable files from CD/USB etc? Having a debate with a software company who imply it's not the norm.
mac_shinobi Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Other threads on here where people have asked and implemented to restrict executable file types from launching via auto run or by students using both GPO and or USBDLM and one or two other utilities. So afaik seems normal to me to restrict students etc from running executables from removable media ( usb flash memory sticks or optical drives ), generally removing the optical drive(s) and inserting blanking plates instead.
pritchardavid Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 We havent yet, but planning to once I get the latest image deployed, going to use applocker!

FN-GM Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Complete block unless on the C drive or an approved network location.
Edu-IT Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Think this is just badly designed software and I was being fobbed off. :-D
