MkII Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I have some 'management purchased' Sony Vaio PCG FX505 laptops with 1yr RTB warranty Anyone know where I can get replacement HDD's for them? I'm sure Sony would do it but we all know it'd cost more than a brand new one.
Ric_ Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Just go to your fave reseller and buy a 2.5" laptop drive? If you take the busted drive out first you may even be lucky enough to find the same model.
ninjabeaver Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Yeah, any one of your main parts suppliers should source one for you. http://www.aria.net http://www.ebuyer.co.uk http://www.pcwb.com etc.
MkII Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 Shuttup! Took the thing apart - just 2 screws uncovered the drive under the keyboard - 4 screws secured drive - pulled off - re-seated - booted fine. Drive sounded fine - it has dissapeared a couple of times in the past - so there's possibly something dodgy with the connection - or we're extremely lucky and it nnever was correctly seated from scratch. Thanks for the help [well, most ppl ]
renegade Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Just for future reference. The drive is a bog standard 2.5" but screwed into a case with an adaptor. remove the case and you got a standard drive. Put any drive in that case and you will be sorted.
