Exchange Alternative

Hi All.

 

I am currently the NM for a charity which is a youth organisation based in Yorkshire. I want to be able to host mail internally because webmail is just a pain in the back side.

 

Obviously as a charity, we don't have exchange money so I just wondered if there were any alternatives availible which are 'freeware' or a low price.

I have head dealings with mail enable before. The enterprise edition is OK but the free edition doesn't have the best functionality to be honest. I do like the look of Zimbra so I think it is wining so far. Thanks though

I thought charities could get Exchange server licence for ~ £40 (ignoring the h/w etc.)

We ran Mercury with pegasus clients for a few years which worked really well just wanted extra functionality with exchange.

Mdeamon does a free version, not sure what the limis of the free one are, but the below website should go though it

We're still using Mercury/32 and Pegasus Mail very successfully. We use SquirrelMail for remote web access and we evaluated Zimbra through Mercury (worked very well, but we have doubts about making a simple system unduely complicated).
