Twelvetrees was a converted centre really who had patches of brilliance but also sometimes struggled at 10 on the big stage although he admitted he didn't want to play 10. Supposedly that's part of the reason he's off to Gloucs (will only play centre) and there are also claims he won't have to fight for his place which I find difficult to believe.

 

I think Barritt did some good work in defence but seemed too eager at times to take the ball into contact rather than try and move it wide.

 

He did always play 10 at Junior Level but at that level he was so good he could have run rings around anybody from anypart of the pitch its not really hard to compare.

 

He did always want to play 12 though!

 

I did read the claims about him given the 12 shirt but again as skeptical.

 

With regards to both Barritt and Tualagi they are both players who would take contact rather then ship the ball out.

I've seen Manu come up through the Academy (he was scary then!), A league and first team but have only really noticed Barritt in England colours and not being a fan of Saffacens I suppose I am looking through striped lenses! I just know that the Tigers wings do get to see the ball even when Manu is playing.

Its a fair point, ultimately that is the case, but i felt the game was not particularly convincingly won. Wales didn't really step up at the start of the second half when england came back out fighting.

Thats why that win was a result of a superb solo effort from Williams, we were holding in there until that point, it turned the game for us and we held on for the result, ultimately, Lawes shouldnt have had a centre rip the ball off him like that, something which he himself was probably deeply embarassed for considering how that all panned out in the end.

 

Wales won, it just wasnt pretty rugby.

I do think that by this point, though, we can all agree that Alain Rolland probably shouldn't be refereeing international rugby any more. After last year's semi and this years final two games for him, he's not acquitting himself well.

There's probably a lot who don't think he should be refereeing at all, particularly in Heineken Cup games! (Warburton red carded at WC, same tackle in HC game doesn't even get a penalty - Rolland referee in both instances)

I wont be sad the day he retires, hes been an awful ref for years. He should never ever have been put in that position, he was never ever going to ref that game straight for Wales, it should be absolute neutrality in a game with the officials at international level.

 

I know he declares himself Irish while being half French, ironic in the WC that it was the he had clear links to the team we beat to get to semi (Ireland) and then being half French and put in charge of the France Wales game, the iRB were absolutely disgusting even allowing that to happen in terms of neutrality over anything else.
