remove user folder from desktop

when users login they have a folder called "username" which has the libraries in etc.

We dont want to use libraries with users. so how can i remove this from the desktop.

 

we not using classic menu.

not 100% sure but try enable this group policy

 

user config/policies/admin temp/desktop/remove my docs icon on the desktop

 

I know it showing their username but this might work.

yeah have tried that.

Thats only policy i can think of changing.

have you tried "hide and disable all items on the desktop" or redirecting the desktop? not sure if you let users save to desktop or not?

We want to redirect to a single folder for everyone. Read only.

I tried that policy yesterday and it stopped the redirection from applying also.

i thought if you redirected the desktop only items from the redirected location should be shown?

 

In you redirection policy under "target folder location" what have you got set?

 

it should be set to redirect to the following location and the path of your desired folder should be set below.

we have it set so diffarent security groups get diffarent desktop..

 

staff

students

 

both controlled from one policy.

we have it set for student but not for staff.

 

in the redirection of the desktop have you set the "target folder location" option too "redirect to the following location" ??

Not sure about the redirecting stuff but we have, 'Hide and disable all items on the desktop' and 'Remove user folder link from Start Menu', set to Enabled - This works for us.

When I build an image I just remove it from the account I create the image with and then if you set the profile to copy during sysprep, no user will have that folder.
