Identify this (telco?) gear?

We have a rack full of gear in our server room and no-one knows what it is. As far as I can tell, it is basically telco gear, but further than that, I have no ideas.

 

Could someone here identify any of it?

By RMBC do you mean RBC, like SWGfL? If so, they don't have anything in the school as our ISP is our local council, and their equipment is a single switch, connected to a single router, connected to a Virgin Media fibre connection. This lot is definitely telco gear, related to phone lines etc... but I just have never seen this sort of stuff actually inside customer premises.

nokia looks like a standard PSTN phone system , do you use VOIP?

Yep mean RBC - one letter extra

 

Our LEA does our internet as well but we host something they call a 'bap' lots of networking and comms kit none of which is to do with the school although if we turn it off plenty of local schools and libraries loose the internet.

Celab is a UPS manufacturer

 

Pic 4 looks like a telephone patch panel

 

Pic 3 looks like a PSU for sompething but cant tell what is plugged into it

Ok, from what I'm piecing together, the Celab is connected to the DC PDU, which is connected to the Nokia thing...

 

Just to figure out how they then connect to the telephone patch panel and the green CAT5 lead. The patch panel and the CAT5 leads both go through to the PBX in another cabinet.

On the punchdown blocks (pic 4), do the numbers correspond to internal extensions? Put a tone through one and try to trace it?

 

Do you have a separate PBX somewhere?

The red Celab stuff appears to be some kind of UPS. In picture 1 under the Nokia stuff the fibre thing to the right is what Virgin use when they have a fibre connection as we have these at all our sites.

UPS is easy, Krone punchdown panel, easy, but the Nokia kit... Lower bit of kit in the top centre is a power supply of some stripe or another.

 

Hmmm... You haven't got a base station on the roof have you? A mobile phone micro-node, or even smaller, maybe covering just the school and immediate area?
