Asus Laptops - Any good?

Hi all

 

Just wondering what they are like and what their warranty etc is like?

 

Note, this isn't for work - a friend of mine was told about http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk - and wondering about them and that site too.

 

We were looking at this one:

Any one know if they are a good deal as the spec is great for that price - unless I've overlooked something [shame it shares the memory, tho the asuslaptop website doesn't indicate it, but the asus site itself does lol]

 

Any thoughts?

 

She's not after gaming or anything, but its better to have the power for the same money then not I would guess lol

Asus are made in the same factory as Sony laptops.

I had one, the spec was good for the price. Better than a dell laptop for sure!

Interesting about the Sony factory aspect tho...

 

What about their support and stuff? How "limited" is the "limited global 2 year warranty" that comes with them? is my thinking.

Their after sales suck. Big time. Their RTB is a joke and they once had a mission critical laptop of ours (only 2 months old) which required a new touchpad for over 3 months!!

Nice laptops, rubbish service in my experiance.

id have to say they are most exellent, they last an age, my dad had his last one for about 5 years and he only got a new one because i couldent be arsed to reinstall windows, it still works. My mates had his for 3 years and all he does is abuse it, its still pretty quick too, i fixed it a while ago, but that was just norton being shite.

I always feel theres something strange about them in a geeky way... They arnt very "snappy", im not sure, its probably just me...
