Hi,

I have a windows 7 image with all the software we use installed into the image ... it's installed in KVM as a virtual machine. I was planning on uploading the image of this machine to the Fog server and then deploy it to my desktops, but when I do that the desktop boots up into Startup Recovery and fails and booting normally just reboots machine.

How can I make Fog role my images out "Multi-Platform" ?

Any Ideas ?

Thanks

You can't just upload an image into fog, you must properly prepare windows to be installed on a new computer by running sysprep prior to the upload. There are several posts in this forum where I and others explain in detail how to accomplish this.

ahh ok but using sysprep will set the machine back to factory defaults wont it for example it'll wipe out the license so the machine wont be activated ?

I've never used sysprep before this is just what I know from other people doing it.

You need to create an answer file for things like serial numbers if not using KMS for use after the machine has imaged. You also need to use the Fogprep.exe file in Windows 7 to be able to create a working image in fog.

There are alot of guides and helpful posts on here and also plenty of info on the fogproject website

FOG 0.32 doesn't need fogprep running (I found it's not actually needed in 0.29 really either). Sysprep + generalize is what you need, and unlike XP there's no way round it.
